Does it make people love you more?" Tania, the sad thing is, people "love" and want to be with skinny people. i just saw Precious last night- and it just shows that being 'unpretty' and 'fat' makes people dislike you; treat you like you have the plague. people are so cruel.

"Does it add to the sum total of human happiness?" it doesnt- but if people hate you bec you are called "fat", it makes for a very sad world. it just makes me furious. so many people have a false sense of happiness, bec they are accepted in society as a result of their skinniness.

"Will it stop your lover leaving?" what about the horrid men who leave their wives for the skinner woman?
It is a sad truth to accept, but this is the world we live in. We are judged by the way we look. I think what even worse is that women like Kate Moss, whom young girls look up to- are promoting such idiotic ideas.

I agree with everything you say, wish others would follow suit. xoShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14316092310251306421noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1365244084462704027.post-12025586696926551712009-11-22T05:34:08.374+00:002009-11-22T05:34:08.374+00:00The inspiration:

Was she even thinking at all?

For so, so many reasons a comment such as that should never get past the internal thought process. In a world where more and more women, young and old, are going rexy on us, a roll model as important as Moss ought really to know better. In any case food beats skinny every time, yes there is a balance to be had, too many pork scratchings and you will turn into a fat pasty but a life without the salty pig snack would be empty and sad! I know the fascination with size is the fault of man, and throughout the centuries it is our whim that has dictated the way women are expected to look, for this girls I can only apologize. However getting back to the point, skinny could not and will never beat Tania's roast beef (I know these things) nor could it hope to take on my mums Yorkshire puddings.

There is of course one thing skinny wins out over......... the pure evil that is Marmite!man in the hatnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1365244084462704027.post-23988294796460362512009-11-21T10:29:52.731+00:002009-11-21T10:29:52.731+00:00I'm not much of a feminist, truth be told, but...I'm not much of a feminist, truth be told, but I do think that there must be brave women through the ages spinning in their graves to see that all that some women have done with their emancipation is spend their lives worrying about their cellulite. I have little nieces, and it breaks your heart to hear a ten year old girl, with less meat on her than a butcher's pencil, worry about getting 'fat'. And how easy it is to get sucked into the whole maelstrom yourself. I'm recovering from the flu at the moment and I'm ashamed to say there's a part of me that secretly doesn't mind too much - because I've lost 9lbs in weight. I need a thoroughly good shaking (which I'm currently receiving in the shape of reading 'Backwards'!!) - I was only a big-ish size 12 in the first place. I resent the implication that everyone over a size 8 is filling their face full of doughnuts and lard all day - some of us would have to literally starve ourselves to be the size Kate Moss is. And some of feel that life is a bit too short and that maybe, just maybe, eating and cooking are some of life's greatest pleasures. I don't deny myself anything I want to eat. Do I wish my rear end was slightly smaller? Yes, I do - but not enough to do something about it.

Fortunately Tania, as a still-germ-ridden vegetarian, your list hasn't sent me over the edge - but I am just off to the supermarket to get ingredients for a veggie sausage casserole with herby dumplings. That's the stuff to feed the troops on!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1365244084462704027.post-73756433415318411842009-11-21T05:38:47.058+00:002009-11-21T05:38:47.058+00:00A joy to read as ever.
