I still remember the frisson of when I got to attend parliament for PMQs and though I did always moan when I had meetings at Millbank and in the Cabinet Office and so on it was also quite thrilling.

I could not help but have Radio 5 on yesterday to ensure I could listen. It is no longer my job to know these things, nor has it been for years but I hate to feel out of the loop.

I love how you captured it. Lately, though, the news has been so depressing that it is hard to want to learn more about either system. Your account, though, is stirring. It reminds me that we have a democracy, and just because there are some idiotic or corrupt practitioners of it, that does not mean that the system is bad. Those old traditions and ceremonies are a reminder not of what we have exactly, but what is possible. Thanks.

Bird
PS And as political junkie, love all the detail!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1365244084462704027.post-49354828812725363052011-11-30T16:56:53.838+00:002011-11-30T16:56:53.838+00:00No interest in politics, I'm only here for my ...No interest in politics, I'm only here for my daily fix of Pidge. 8-)Marchelinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11201825708442679157noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1365244084462704027.post-72507557867978430492011-11-30T15:00:52.270+00:002011-11-30T15:00:52.270+00:00What Mystica said. I will burn midnight oil and catch up, but at last, finally, once and for all, I am back in my wonderful artsy-fartsy little town which I dearly love. So glad to be back -- here and with you, dear Tania.larrouxgirlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14061978130066458450noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1365244084462704027.post-7575271559227507282011-11-30T11:40:48.384+00:002011-11-30T11:40:48.384+00:00It's all so reminiscent of The Coliseum and Ci...It's all so reminiscent of The Coliseum and Circus and Pantomime.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00728645243327906117noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1365244084462704027.post-67467901243048474582011-11-30T11:10:53.781+00:002011-11-30T11:10:53.781+00:00A riveting read from our woman in new boots on the...A riveting read from our woman in new boots on the spot.Lucillehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14414527658216916537noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1365244084462704027.post-31077982630327114262011-11-30T02:37:36.759+00:002011-11-30T02:37:36.759+00:00None of the names mean much to me either but I lik...None of the names mean much to me either but I like the descriptiveness of your post so much.Mysticahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10941269615559681014noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1365244084462704027.post-13713177635070956242011-11-30T01:04:51.883+00:002011-11-30T01:04:51.883+00:00Truly impressed and thoroughly amused by your acco...Truly impressed and thoroughly amused by your account of today in the House. We arrived to be told only people in arranged groups were allowed in.

Not to be daunted my mother tagged us all onto a group led by an M.P. It ended up with him ignoring the rest of his party and giving us the full tour.

The problem came when he wanted to see us onto the tour bus. I cannot quite remember how my father handled that as my mother, brother and I left him to it and watched from a distance.Susan Heatherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14400003572211042194noreply@blogger.com
