Bonus post: another photograph of hope

Posted by Tania Kindersley.

I believe in the Young People. One of the things that made me saddest about last night is that it will fuel the meme that the new generation is no good. Here is a proof, from this morning, that not all the youth is bent on destruction:

Boys with brooms

How proud their mums must be.

Totally agree with you Tania. I'm a very proud mother of a wonderful 14 year old son, George, he has been totally shocked by the rioting/looting/destruction of the past few day's, as have we all, thankfully we live in Oxforshire so have been following the news from the comfort of our home and the whole family really feels for the hard working people who have suffered, lost their business etc...we are aghast at the feckless thugs who take delight in destruction...but then we see all the WONDERFUL people including plenty of youngsters taking to the streets to clean up, brings a lump to my throat, proud to be British.

  3. Someone asked earlier this week about the old barber whose business was destroyed - there are details on this page http://archbishop-cranmer.blogspot.com/2011/08/its-time-for-boris-to-show-us-statesman.html - if you keep reading long enough! The details are near the end of the post and there's a paypal donation option. Hope that helps!

  4. I am so sad about what is happening in England right now. We have had no television news (yet) covering those who are banding together to help clean up. It's all been hideous sound bites and pictures of burning buildings. It's very hard to shake this feeling of doom and gloom in the world at the moment. Thank you for posting these wonderful people.

  5. What a great image. I like that the middle boy has a t-shirt with 'Do I look like I care?' on it. Yes, yes you do.

    Still raining, here.
