Too weak to blog

Posted by Tania Kindersley.

Every so often, I crash, hurtling, into a brick wall. My glands go up, my head feels like someone has balanced an iron plate on top of it, my eyeballs feel like boiled eggs. I move through a low haze.

It's normally a combination of fret, too many nights of not quite enough sleep, obsessive work habits, and too much outside stimulation. My essentially solitary nature gets worn out, sometimes, by too many people, even when they are people I love.

At this point, no amount of caffeine, vitamin C, green soup, or iron tonic will help. The only thing is to go to bed. So that is what I have done. I have a pathetically low level of stamina.

Better tomorrow.

  3. It's allowed. Tweet just posted to you of a drinks mat that sits on my husband's desk to that effect. http://ow.ly/i/uCNf

    Sleep well.

  4. A lot of sleep fixes a lot of things. For me, at any rate.

  5. Get well soon. I am just beginning to surface from a week-long bout of a flu-type thing, so am full of sympathy.

  6. Crashing up against the limits of your body/mind is no fun. Remembering where those limits are and stopping before you hit them - well, let me in on the secret please! (That's if anyone has it).

Rest for as long as you need. We'll still be here.

  7. You as well?!

After spending the past three weeks ruthlessly redecorating our bedroom I was just putting the finishing tidy-up touches to "cutting in" where the wall colour meets the white ceiling when I stepped awkwardly to the side off my steps and jolted my spine. I managed to iron and hang the new curtains and make the bed up before collapsing on it flat on my back, where I have been for most of the two days since, wincing and yelping when I turn over or get up to go for a pee!

At least I can enjoy my handiwork while I rest on my laurels/bed of pain. Milady's Boudoir (as I have christened it; it's mainly duck egg blue and light grey, with silver and white accents, very French) makes a tranquil sick room. Why not re-read a few of your old blogs, Tania, for fun? And we'll do the same until you are better.

Is Pigeon lying on your feet?

  8. Husband is feeling pretty much like you too Tania. For the second night in a row, since being released from the hospital after a particularly brutal gallbladder attack (surgery scheduled for 4-6 weeks) we are climbing the wooden hill and heading to bed at 8pm. It's all good, it's what is needed, required right now. Normal service to be resumed...

  9. I hope you are feeling better after a nice, quiet, withdrawing-type rest.

  13. I get the same way. I also live alone, and have to moderate my exposure to mobs of people...

  14. Goodness, you poor love! Even if you know you're running on low ebb there's still that force that keeps you going. I know!
There comes a point when you can do nothing else but STOP!
Hope the rest does a good job and you feel much perkier soon.
    Z xx
