Bonus post: sheer loveliness

Posted by Tania Kindersley.

You know how sometimes people say the universe sends you exactly what you need at the exact moment you need it? Well, sometimes the internet sends you that thing, and today was one of those times.

I was noodling about in my lunch break, and stumbled across a story about a rescued whale. I love a good whale story. I once watched leaping whales off the coast of Lanai; it was one of the most dramatically extraordinary experiences of my life, right up there with the time I saw the Northern Lights outside my front door.

Anyway, I did a bit of Googling, and it turned out it was actually not news at all. It happened in February, and I don’t know why it did not go viral then. It is, without doubt, the best thing currently on the internets, and the most perfect antidote to the dreich I ever saw.

Whale rescue.

I LOVE these people. I love that they refused to give up.

  2. Is that not the most extraordinary thing...the sheer joy of that freed whale. I forget where I found the link, but I watched it three times successively Sunday and am not ashamed to say I got a little lump in my throat. There is hope for humanity with people like those "not giving up."

  6. My Mum's top wish is to see a whale. She is about to undergo a major operation - withn the hour.

I loved the 'dance of thanks'. It fills me with hope that my Mum's wish will come true.

A bit touchy feely for a north east quine - but thanls Tania.
