Think I may have done it

Posted by Tania Kindersley.

Think, think, THINK this might work. I should remind you, after all this build-up, that this is a really, really bad video. If it were not for the beauty of the Pigeon and my own cussed refusal to be defeated by complicated software, I would have given up ages ago. Fingers crossed:

Update: have just checked this. It's not very satisfactory. It seems to come up as a link, so if you click on the photograph, it will take you to a Picasa web album, and if you click again, you should be able to see it. All I wanted was a nice, neat little embed, but that seems beyond the wit of man, or woman either.

  2. Well, we got there in the end! Don't worry - I can't work the video thing on my camera either. My hand/eye coordination just vaaaaaanishes, for some reason. And love the Pigeon.

  3. Argh, of course it won't work on the iPad for some reason! Flash converted files I think. I'll try it on my desktop.

  5. How lovely! I'm glad you posted this because, ridiculously, I have been biting back a request that you might if you have it post some video of the Pigeon. Thank you!

  6. LOVE THIS! - has cheered me up no end :) especially like the sheepish look and wag wag wag when you ask what she is doing.

  7. It really does! You know, I felt quite excited and emotional while I was waiting for it to start.
What an unexpected pleasure it was - the best thing that happened to me today!
I like the way she is totally lost in her work at first, she just has time for that quick dismissive glance, and only allows herself to leave it after hearing your voice and feeling that *I think I have done enough to allow myself a little break here now*.
    So adorable, your Pigeon!

  9. Works for me! I am very thrilled to have seen the Pigeon. Also to have heard your voice - I do like to know what my favourite bloggers sound like.

I find Vimeo really easy to use for uploading and them embedding videos.

  10. What a lovely bunch of Pigeon admirers you are. I did feel slightly foolish to go on and on about such a paltry piece of bad film, but for some reason I did want you all to see her, and now I am really glad I made the effort. Thank you. :)

  11. WHAT a lovely dog the Pigeon is! The single-minded concentration that she brings to her task is a hoot. At least it's outside. Molly is single mindedly destroying a large chunk of bark *inside*.....

  12. How wonderful to see Pigeon 'for real'. And to see a dog not barking, but de-barking....

  15. So lovely to see, Tania.

I think what you were actually after was a video that would play on the page of the blog rather than leaving it? If so, I don't know about Picasa (never used it for vids) but YouTube works very easily like that - so if you do yourself a YouTube account and then link it in the same way as I think you've done in the past to other folks' videos it will be as you wish it to be...

... but none of us minded the extra click, anyway - it was worth it! :)

  16. It's a perfectly awful piece of film-making, and a perfectly delightful bit of blogging. It was a treat to see that pretty girl in action (and to hear your charming voice!). Thanks for sharing it with us.
