Meant to say

Posted by Tania Kindersley.

The whole point of the last post was to take the excuse to reproduce my favourite Spoonerism. It will be familiar and beloved to many of you, but it can never be repeated too much:

Sir, you have tasted two whole worms; you have hissed all my mystery lectures and been caught fighting a liar in the quad; you will leave by the next town drain.

(Sir, you have wasted two whole terms; you have missed all my history lectures and been caught lighting a fire in the quad; you will leave by the next down train.)

Also one can never have too much of: 'Three cheers for our queer old dean', meaning 'Three cheers for our dear old queen', when giving a toast to Queen Victoria.

Happy days.
